Loveblock

Marlborough, Central Otago

Loveblock Wines, founded by Erica and Kim Crawford, is a flag bearer for organic, and sustainable winemaking in New Zealand, and for being responsible for the health of the land and community for future generations.

It’s an approach which the owners are passionate about, and which extends to their winemaking philosophy too. They make ‘clean, true wines’, which reflect balance, finesse, and a sense of place without excessive manipulation.

As a result, Loveblock’s wines tend to be softer, more elegant, and subtle, setting them apart from many of their regional counterparts. And for Erica and Kim, this is a creative journey too, making wines without the pressures of conformity. For them, it’s never a sacrifice on wine quality – it’s an exploration of taste.

Erica Crawford

Erica Crawford is the driving force behind Loveblock. She oversees the viticulture, the sustainability vision, and the broader direction of the wines themselves. Originally trained in science, Erica made her name building a global wine brand before stepping away to create something more personal and values-led. Loveblock is her return to wine on her own terms - less about scale, more about intention.

Her husband, Kim Crawford, is the winemaker - what he jokingly calls “the other half of Loveblock.” With over 30 years of winemaking experience and a farming upbringing in Waikato, Kim brings a deep feel for the land.

But it’s Erica who imagined what their rugged Marlborough farm could become when they bought it in 2006. Together, they’ve turned it into a certified organic vineyard with a strong ecological focus - crafting wines that reflect both the place and their shared purpose.

Grown with Love – Made with Care

Grown with Love – Made with Care

Loveblock Wines has vineyards in two key regions of New Zealand: Loveblock Farm is in the upper Awatere Valley, in Marlborough, producing their range of aromatic whites, and their Pinot Noir and Riesling are grown in the Bendigo sub-region of Central Otago. Each locations offers different terroirs: cool, maritime conditions in the Awatere, and a continental, high altitude environment, perfect for bold, structured Pinot Noir in Central Otago.

What they have in common is the Loveblock team’s absolute commitment to sustainable winegrowing - a combination of environmentally sound, socially equitable, and economically viable processes which also support the production of high-quality wines.
Their approach is all about terroir-driven wines, which are elegant, refined, and expressive, and which stand apart from conventional New Zealand styles.

“We’ve always been unconventional. And often, it’s what’s not in our wine glass that makes it so good. Enjoy.”
